Visited around 7/4/2017. One of my favorite places to camp and bird. The road from Spruce Knob to the campground (FR 112, about 8.5 miles stretch) really needs fixing, for most of it. Great birding around the lake and on Dry Fork Rd.

Great no frills campground. Absolutely the cleanest pit toilets can get. Firewood for sale on site. Great place to unwind, relax at the lake, and visit the spruce knob wilderness. Sites are mostly level, campground on a slight hill.

One of the best campgrounds I've ever had the pleasure of staying at. We rolled up late without reservations to find we had to pay for a spot, which was a first for us. Only paid $16 for a drive up campground overnight for 2 people. Not bad. We got to hang out with and meet the campground manager. The dude used to play guitar for Willie Nelson so needless to say he was super chill. He told us the grounds weren't packed that night but that the next weekend it was booked up, so it's worth reserving your spot during leaf viewing season. They've got great campfire pits made for cooking, which was perfect for us. The bathrooms were the cleanest I've ever seen, had full rolls of TP, and actually smelled good. No running water of course. Highlight is the reflection on the lake, especially on a clear night. Star gazing is a must. I highly recommend this campground if you're staying in the Spruce Knob / Seneca Rocks area

This is a fantastic forest service campground. The solar powered water pumps are very cool and the vault toilets serve their purpose. It's camping. Enjoy yourself.

I didn't stay in the campground itself, I found a really nice level campsite at the top of the mountain on the other side of the lake. It was very beautiful and no noises coming from anywhere. No light pollution, so stargazing was perfect. Very beautiful drove in, but be warned the roads are gravel for about 6 miles in most directions around the campground.

The campground managers were friendly and accommodating.
